TAnimation Flat Brush “Kozue” – For Hand-Drawn Background Art

This flat brush is specially designed for hand-drawn animation backgrounds. It is ideal not only for base coating and outlining in animation background work, but also for use in Nihonga (Japanese painting), design, and poster production.

The “Animation Flat Brush – Kozue” is made with a thicker brush head than standard design flat brushes, allowing it to hold more paint and deliver solid coverage with a single stroke.
Thanks to its generous tip volume, it also performs well for paint-lifting techniques (such as wiping off paint to expose the paper surface when creating clouds or highlights).

Despite its volume, the tip closes cleanly, making it perfectly suitable for line work as well.
The sharply tapered tip makes it particularly effective for painting structures, edges, and surfaces—an excellent choice for background artists who prefer flat brushes for detailed rendering instead of round (senbyō) brushes.
